Anonymus 247 was a pilgrim at Rome, who took a secret message from pope Stephen III (II) (Stephanos 8) to the Frankish ruler Pippin (Pepin 1) asking for help against the Lombards who under Aistulf 1 were oppressing Italy: Lib. Pont. 94. 15 ( clam per quendam peregrinum suas misit litteras Pippino ). Anonymus 247 was perhaps a Frank.
