Anonymus 235 was a spatharius of the exarch of Italy, Olympios 1; in Rome in c. 650 Anonymus 235 was ordered by Olympios 1 to assassinate pope Martin I (Martinos 6) during the celebration of mass in the Church of the Virgin ad Praesepe (perhaps the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore); at the crucial moment, so he swore on oath afterwards, he suddenly went blind and was unable to carry out his orders because he could not see where the pope was; supposedly because of this, Olympios 1 was reconciled with pope Martinos 6: Lib.
