Anonymus 218 was the father of St Evarestos (Evarestos 1); the parents of Evarestos 1 are described as pious people, of moderate rank only but very superior in terms of piety and conduct (εὐσεβεῖς καὶ θεοφρόνες, καὶ οὐ κατὰ πολὺ τῶν ἐπιφανῶν ἐνδεέστεροι, μᾶλλον μὲν οὖν δι' εὐσεβείαν καὶ τρόπων χρηστότητα πολλῷ τούτων ἐπιφανέστεροι); they lived in Galatia where Evarestos 1 was born in 819: Vita S. Evaristi 2 (pp. 296-297). During the reign of Theophilos 5, Anonymus 218 took Evarestos 1 to Constantinople, where they saw the sights and visited Bryainios (Bryennios 2), who was related to the family through his wife; Anonymus 218 left his son Evarestos 1 with Bryainios (Bryennios 2) and returned home to Galatia: Vita S. Evaristi 6 (p. 300). Anonymus 218 was also father of a daughter, Anonyma 23.
