Anonymus 217 was the son of Amer (Amr 2); he fought at the battle of Porson (Poson, also known as Lalakaon) in 863; he escaped with his men when the Arabs were being heavily defeated and with a hundred followers recrossed the river Halys, but was captured in the theme of Charsianon by Machairas 1 and delivered to the Roman commander, Petronas 5: Genesius IV 15, Theoph. Cont. IV 25 (p. 183), Zon. XVI 3. 24-27 (he had left the army to go plundering when news of the defeat reached him; ὁ δὲ τούτου, sc. Cf. Anonymus 642.
