Anonymus 200 was styled the archon of the archontes, he was apparently the commander of the Armenian troops who accompanied Amr 2 against the emperor Theophilos 5 in 838 and defeated the Romans at the battle of Anzen: Theoph. Cont. III 31 (p. 127). Presumably Anonymus 200 was the Armenian overlord of Armenia; perhaps identical with Smbat VIII (cf. CMH IV i, p. 611). Anonymus 200 was archon of the archontes, he was one of the Arab commanders sent against the Romans after the sack of the caliph's home town of Sozopetra (καὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἄρχοντος τῶν ἀρχόντων): Genesius III 13. Cf. also Afshin 1.
