Anonymus 170 was a (basilikos proto)spatharios and strategos of Thrace; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 730, no. 2 (facsimile). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε or Κύριε βοήθει with the remains of τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: .... - [β' α']σπαθ' - . .τρατηγ - . της Θρα - κης. The seal is damaged and the owner's name is wholly lost. The titles read: [βασιλικῷ πρωτο]σπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ τῆς Θρᾳκης.
