Anonymus 142 was a protospatharios and strategos of Hellas; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 165, note 4, no. 1 (= Mordtmann, Plombs I, p. 292). The text, as reported by Schlumberger, reads: Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ ...... πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Ἑλλάδος. Cf. also Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 95.
