Anonymus 78 was a basilikos spatharokandidatos and tourmarches of Sicily; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century; his name included the letter Ν (see below): DOSeals I 5.37. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: .ν. β' σπαθ'κανδ' και τουρμαρχ' Σικελ'. The name and titles read: .ν. βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ τουρμάρχῃ Σικελίας. On the meaning of tourmarches here, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals I, p. 167 (note on 71.39).
