Anonymus 12 was an unnamed domestikos of the stratores (τὸν δομέστικον τῶν στρατόρων) serving under Leo 3 (later the emperor Leo III) in 716; sent by Leo 3 to the Arabs under Sulayman 1 near Amorion to complain of their planned treachery towards him: Theoph. AM 6208. On the stratores, a group of officers and soldiers serving in the entourage of the strategos, and their head, the domestikos, see Haldon, Byzantine Praetorians, pp. 214, 230-231. Anonymus 12 was head of the stratores serving under the strategos of the Anatolikoi, Leo 3.
