Titles | Archontes of the Blattion (office); Basilikoi kommerkiarioi (office) |
Seal Sources | Schlumberger, G. Sigillographie de l'empire byzantin (Paris, 1884) |
Anonymi 5 are to be identified with Synetos 1 and Niketas 6. Anonymi 5 were basilikoi kommerkiarioi and archontes of the Blattion; they were owners of a seal dateable to the reign of an emperor, possibly Constans II (Konstans 1), and in a twelfth indiction (either 653/654 or 668/669, before the emperor's death was known about in the East): Schlumberger, Sig., p. 739, no. 3 (facsimile). Obv.: image of an emperor (possibly Constans II [Konstans 1]) with the twelfth indiction date; the names of the owners were probably recorded in a circular legend around the imperial image but have totally disappeared. Rev.: .... - [βασιλικω] - ν [κομμ]ερ - κια[ρι]ων [και] - αρχοντω - ν του βλα - [ττιου]. The restoration of the reverse is Schlumberger's. See now Zacos and Veglery 215a and 215b.
