Anonyma 78 was a nun, whose death was the occasion of a letter of consolation written by the patriarch Photius (Photios 1) to the hegoumene of her monastery; she is alluded to as τὸ παρθενικὸν ἐκεῖνο καὶ μακάριον σκεῦος: Photius, Ep. 245 (II 173ff. Laourdas-Westerink) (ἐπὶ ἀδελφῇ τελευτησάσῃ). The date of the letter is uncertain, and was therefore between 859 and 880.
