Anonyma 61 was the daughter of a leading citizen of Herakleia; when the city was captured by Harun al-Rashid (Harun 1, before he became caliph), she was among the captives and was chosen by him as his wife; he began to build for her a new city, close to Callinicum (where he was living), also called Herakleia: Chron. 1234, §187 (II, p. 3). The city was left unfinished at Harun 1's death in 809, but was apparently not begun until c. 806: Chron. 1234, §§191-192 (II, pp. 6-7).
