Anonyma 18 was the wife of Gregorios 71 Pterotos (who was a nephew of the emperor Leo V (Leo 15)) and the mother of his children; she remained in Constantinople with the children when her husband was exiled in 821 and was imprisoned with them by the emperor Michael II (Michael 10) when Gregorios 71 joined the rebellion of Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7); the wish to save them was one of Gregorios 71's reasons for deserting Thomas 7 during the siege of Constantinople: Theoph. Cont. II 16 (p. 63).
