Anonyma 17 was the mother of the emperor Leo V (Leo 15); she supposedly had a vision in which the Theotokos threatened her son if he did not stop his attack on icons and as a consequence she pleaded with him to change his policy: Theoph. Cont. I 23 (pp. 36-37), Zon. XV 21. 18-21 (τὸ τῆς μητρὸς ἐξεδειμάτου ἐνύπνιον). She survived her son's downfall and was sent to live in the monastery of the Despotai with Leo 15's widow Theodosia 1: Theoph. Cont. II 7 (p. 46). Her husband was Bardas 4.
