Anna 11 was a hegoumene; she was the addressee of several letters from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) between 809 and 818: Theod. Stud., Ep. 46, p. 129; 54, pp. 159-160; 85, p. 206; 316, pp. 459-460 (all addressed Ἄννῃ ἡγουμένῃ). Anna 11 was a relative of Theodoros 15 on his mother's side (ὦ αἷμα Θεοκτίστης τῆς μεμακαρισμένης σαρκικὸν ὁμοῦ καὶ πνευματικόν: p. 206, lines 4-5) and is described as of noble birth (ἐξ εὐγενῶν εὐγενὴς τὸ κατὰ σάρκα καὶ τὸ κατὰ πνεῦμα: p. 206, line 8): Theod. Stud., Ep. 85, p. 206. Possibly his cousin (see also Anna 13). In 809/811 Anna 11 travelled around meeting and helping Stoudite monks who were suffering during the Moechian controversy; Theodoros 15 praises her zeal and piety and styles her τῆς ὁσιότητός σου (p. 159, line 2): Theod. Stud., Ep. 54, pp. 159-160 (?809/811). During the iconoclast persecution under Leo V (Leo 15), Anna 11 was imprisoned alone (μόνη εἶ ἐγκεκλεισμένη: p. 206, line 11) and was encouraged by Theodoros 15 to stand firm, even if brought before the emperor himself (μὴ πτοηθῇς βασιλέα, ἐὰν δεῖ σε κατ' ὄψιν ἐλθεῖν: p. 206, lines 16-17); she is addressed by him as κυρία (p. 206, line 16): Theod. Stud., Ep. 85, p. 206 (a. 815/818). Anna 11 survived imprisonment and isolation without yielding, and wrote to Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Ep. 316, pp. 459-460 (a. 816/818). One letter, Ep. 46, does not survive; only the title is preserved in the index of the manuscript Vaticanus graecus 1432.
