Andreas 43 was described as doulos of the Cross; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 2781. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Ἀνδρέου. Rev.: +δου - λου του - σταυρ - ου+. The name and title read: Ἀνδρέου δούλου τοῦ σταυροῦ. The unusual phrase is said to be indicative of the iconoclast controversy; cf. Zacos and Veglery, Seals ad n. 2937 and see also Zenon 2 for another instance.
