Andreas 18 executed Ioannes the Chaldee (Ioannes 89) for conspiracy on orders from the emperor Basil I (Basilios 7); he was a stratelates (παρὰ Ἀνδρέου στρατηλάτου): Leo Gramm. 253, Georg. Mon. Cont. 839, Ps.-Symeon 687-688. Ioannes 89 was strategos of Chaldia; Andreas 18 was perhaps strategos of an adjoining theme or possibly the successor of Ioannes 89; cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 107.
