Anastasios 40 was basilikos (?proto)spatharios and patrikios; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 7, 507. The name and title read: Ἀναστασίῳ βασιλικῷ [πρωτο]σπαθαρίῳ καὶ [πα]τρικ[ίῳ]. It is not certain whether he was spatharios or protospatharios.
