Amazaspios 1 was hypatos and logothetes of the stratiotikon; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 1697. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Αμαζ - .σπιω υπ' - και λογ' του - στρα'. The name and titles read: Ἀμαζ[α]σπίῳ ὑπάτῳ καὶ λογοθέτῃ τοῦ στρατιωτικοῦ. The name is the Armenian name Hamazasp; see Justi, Iranisches Namenbuch, p. 125.
