Ali 2 was the father of Abdelas (Abdullah 5) and Salim (Sulayman 3): Theoph. AM 6241, AM 6246, Chron. 1234, §179 (p. 328), §180 (pp. 330-331), §181 (p. 333). He was therefore great-uncle of the first two caliphs of the Abbasid dynasty, as-Saffah 1 and al-Mansour 1.
