Alexios 3 was basilikos protospatharios and anagrapheus of the Boukellarioi; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 301, no. 1 (= Sorlat-Dorigny, in Rev. Arch. 1874, I, p. 87). The text given by Schlumberger reads: Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Ἀλεχίο β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπαθ(αρίῳ) (καὶ) ἀναγραφεῖ τῶν Βουκελλαρίων. On the obverse is a double cross standing on steps.
