Alexandros 9 was a Stoudite monk; he defected to the iconoclasts during the persecution under Leo V (Leo 15), apparently because he was offered a bribe (he was φιλάργυρος): Theod. Stud., Catech. Parv. 69 (p. 241 Auvray).
