Alexandros 5 was hypatos, basilikos spatharios and archon of Mesembria; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: DOSeals I 77.1 = Zacos and Veglery 1694. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with the inscription Αλε - ξαν - .ρ - ω.. Rev.: +υπ. - τω βασι' - .παθαριω - και αρχοντι - Μεσημβρ - ιας+. The name and titles read: Ἀλεξάν[δ]ρῳ ὑπ[ά]τῳ βασιλικῷ [σ]παθαρίῳ καὶ ἄρχοντι Μεσημβρίας. On Mesembria and Debelton, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DOSeals, pp. 172-173.
