Abd ar-Rahman 8 was son of `Abd al-Malik (Abdulmalik 2); in the year 1104 Sel. (792/793) he captured the fortress of Rabsah in Cappadocia: Mich. Syr. III 8ff., Bar Hebr., p. 119. For Rabsa = Thebasa, see Rochow, Theophanes, p. 260 and Theoph. AM 6286.
