Theodosios 39 was the son of the emperor Leo V (Leo 15) and Theodosia 1; brother of Symbatios Konstantinos (Konstantinos 29), Basilios 54 and Gregorios 70; after the murder of their father Leo 15 they were all castrated and exiled to the island of Prote; Theodosios 39 died as a result of the operation and was buried at Prote in the same tomb as his father: Theoph. Cont. II 1 (p. 41), Genesius I 21, Zon. XV 22. 2-3 (ἅπαντας τῆς ἀρρενωπίας ἐστέρησε. καὶ ὁ μὲν Θεοδόσιος ἔθανεν), cf. Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 493B (the sons were castrated and tonsured).
