Germaons 2 was metropolitan bishop of Athens; owner of a seal dateable to the first half of the ninth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 589 = Schlumberger, Mélanges, p. 202, no. 7, p. 222, no. 39 = Konstantopoulos, JIAN 5, 64. Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τω - σω - δου - λω. Rev.: +Γερμ - [αν]ω μητ - ροπο[λ(ίτῃ) Α] - θη[νων]. He is to be identified with the archbishop of Athens, Germanos, who is recorded on a column of the Parthenon; he succeeded Ioannes 491 (in 819) and died on 1 December 841: CIG 9355.
