Eutychios was logothetes of the oxys dromos; owner of a seal dateable to the iconoclast period (VIII/M IX): Ebersolt, "Sceaux byzantins", p. 381, no. 419. Obv.: cruciform invocative monogram in the name of the Virgin and the legend Εὐτύχιος. Rev.: cruciform monogram (presumably the name of a dignity) and the legend λογοθέτης τοῦ ὀξέως δρόμου. A similar specimen is Ebersolt, op. cit., p. 381, no. 420. The same person is perhaps owner of two other similar seals, Zacos and Veglery 3022 and Laurent, Corpus II, no. 473. The Zacos seal, dateable to the first half of the eighth century, records the titles: patrikios, basilikos protospatharios(?) and logothetes of the oxys dromos (the name and titles read: Εὐτυχίῳ πατρικίῳ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ(?) καὶ λογοθέτῃ τοῦ ὀξέως δρόμου). The Laurent seal, dateable to the early eighth century, records the titles: patrikios, koubikoularios of the theion palation and logothetes of the oxys dromos (the name and titles read: Εὐτυχίῳ πατρικίῳ κουβικουλαρίῳ τοῦ θείου παλατίου καὶ λογοθέτῃ τοῦ ὀξέως δρόμου). The difference in titles is due to different interpretations of a cruciform monogram. The titles as interpreted on the Laurent seal suggest that this man may have been identical with Eutychios 4, who was therefore logothetes of the oxys dromos before he became exarchos of Italy. See Rochow, Konstantin V, pp. 214-215.
