Elpidios 1 was a deacon of the Great Church (Hagia Sophia) (διάκονον τῆς μεγάλης ἐκκλησίας); he attended the Council summoned by the emperor Philippikos 1 in 712 to reject the Sixth Ecumenical Council and reaffirm monotheletism: Theoph. AM 6204.
