Anonymus 178 was Khagan of the Khazars (Χαγάνου, τοῦ τῶν Σκυθῶν δυνάστου; Theoph. AM 6224); in 730 he betrothed his daughter (Eirene 3) to Constantine (Konstantinos 7), son of the emperor Leo III (Leo 3): Nic. Brev. de Boor 58-59, Mango 63, Theoph. AM 6224, cf. AM 6241 (his daughter bore a son to Constantine, now the emperor Constantine V i.e. Konstantinos 7), Zon. XV 4.11 (Ἤδη δὲ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ Κωνσταντίνου τελοῦντος εἰς μείρακας, ζεύγνυσιν αὐτῷ γαμετὴν τὴν θυγατέρα Χαγάνου τοῦ τῶν Σκυθῶν ἡγεμονεύοντος, βαπτίσας αὐτὴν καὶ ὀνομάσας Εἰρήνην) and 6.5 (τῷ μέντοι Κοπρωνύμῳ ἡ τοῦ Χαγάνου θυγάτηρ ἔτεκε παῖδα, ὅν ὠνόμασε Λέοντα καὶ ἀνηγόρευσε βασιλέα, στεφθέντα διὰ Ἀναστασίου τοῦ ὁμοδοξοῦντος αὐτῷ πατριάρχου). Khagan of the Khazars; Anonymus 178 married his daughter to an emperor Leo (actually to the emperor Constantine V, Konstantinos 7): Const. Porph., DAI 13, 134.
