Sent by the caliph Al-Mutasim 1 to raid the lands of the Romans, Abu Sa`id 1 encountered Nasir (see Theophobos 1) and killed him and many of his Kurdish followers: Mich. Syr. III 96, Bar Hebr., p. 138. In the year 1152 Sel. (840/841) he led another raid into the lands of the Romans and took many prisoners but was overtaken on the way back and lost them all: Mich. Syr. III 102, Bar Hebr., p. 139.
